This unit has been tested prior to shipment, and is in working order. Read instructions through before connecting.

This unit was designed to run the trains in the start/stop mode automatically. The amount of time that the train runs is adjustable, from 8 seconds to maximum of approximately 90 seconds by the use of the RUN TIME control. The STOP TIME of the unit can also be adjusted from 8-90 seconds minimum to maximum separately from the RUN TIME. There is also a switch to enable (AUTO) or disable (NORM) the ASSC.

The ASSC connects anywhere in the cabling system used on the All-Trol 1700 or (1605WB D.C controller for HO,N etc.), between the handheld and the Adaptor Box or  (1605WB) controller.  See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2.

Fig. 2 shows the situation when the ASSC is plugged in the cable system other than at the Adaptor Box or 1605WB controller. In this case the station boxes (RS8) that are between the controller and the ASSC will not effect the Start/Stop operations. When the handheld is plugged in to any of the right hand station box (RS8), then the ASSC will be in operation,  providing the switch is in the AUTO mode. Depending on where the ASSC is plugged in, will determine if the ASSC will have Automatic Start/Stop control of the train or not. See Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 shows what happens to the train when the momentum is set at zero.
Fig. 5 shows a little momentum added.
Fig. 6 shows a relative amount of momentum such that the train never comes to a stop, unless the stop time is adjusted longer than the momentum, in which case the train will stop.

The best way to set the ASSC, is to start by setting the RUN TIME and the STOP TIME at zero with no momentum. As you observe what takes place, then you can begin to make adjustments with the RUN TIME and the STOP TIME control. Once you have a feel for this, then you can start adding momentum to your preferrence. It will take a little patience at first.
